My first blog
Well here we are, my first Blog. I`ve been thinking of doing this blogging lark for a while now but haven't got round to doing it.
But most of my rides are mid week ones between 9am and 3pm
exploring local bridleways and byways...........
I`ve named the blog MTB Micro Adventures as that's what I tend to do these days, squeezing some great riding in-between family life and work. After years of riding trail centres like LLandegla and Coed y Brening I started venturing out into the wild about 10 years ago with a map, flask and a dog and I realised what mountain biking was really about.
Shep the trail dog, he`s almost 15 and still joins me on the short ones!
Mountain biking is so much more than riding a man made circular route that starts and finishes at a cafe, don`t get me wrong I still enjoy doing that very much but it all becomes a bit boring after a while. I don`t think you can beat the feeling of adventure, the feeling of not knowing whats around the next corner or over the next hill.
Also family life has dictated a change in riding locations. Before the arrival of two kids we used to load the bikes up at 8am and get back home at 8pm having ridden for the day then stopped in a pub on the way home for a few beers. Those days are gone and everything now needs meticulous pre- planning . Getting the kids ready for school/nursery, making sure the bike is ready and all my riding gear is in the car, sorting our a route, making sure everybody knows where were going and actually riding my bike can all get a bit hectic at times.
I still manage the odd Epic ride every now and then which is great
But most of my rides are mid week ones between 9am and 3pm

or after the kids have been put to bed!
I`m so lucky to be living on the edge of Snowdonia with all the well known riding in the area within a 40 min drive. However there`s some great riding straight out of my front door onto Conwy Mountain and into the lower Carneddau Mountains.
As aqualified MTB Guide @ Ride Guide I`ve got a few things planned MTB wise over the coming months and my plan is to blog about them and share my experiences with people.
I hope to inspire people to get out and ride their bikes and to explore the great outdoors and I`m hoping you`ll enjoy my blog. A mini adventure to Cae Amos will be up in the next few days.

I do wonder at times why we do it, then I see the picture of the night ride with us looking off into the dark and recall the first night ride, or the pic of the bike by the "damp" track and think of how wet I was coming down from Conwy Mountain, then I know why, its the grins and the friendship.
